Council Member, Martin Thorne

Martin Thorne was elected to the Nampa City Council in November of 1997 and has served twelve years.

Thorne Printing in Nampa was Martin's business home for 45 years.  He purchased the business from his father in 1974.  Martin retired in April, 2005, selling Thorne Printing to the third generation.  Martin is very active in Nampa.  He has served on the Terry Reilly Health Clinic Board and the Auxiliary Board for Mercy Medical Center.  Martin has held the position of President of the Nampa Chamber of Commerce and President of the Nampa Kiwanis Club.  Martin has a heart for the Boy Scouts program and has served in almost every capacity.  He has been a Scout Master, a Council Board Member and is currently on the District Board.

Thorne is liaison to the following committees: Compass Board (Metropolitan Planning Association), Idaho Center Auxiliary, Nampa Civic Center Foundation and the Nampa Shelter Foundation.

Martin was born and raised in Nampa, graduating from Nampa High School.  He attended Brigham Young University for two years.  Martin has been married for 46 years and has six children and 20 grandchildren.  He enjoys traveling, ATV riding and downhill skiing.
